Ribera del Duero is an appellation of origin which benefit the vineyards located in the spanish area of Castilla y León (Spain). La Bodega Pagos de Matanegra located in the south of Burgos in northern Spain, within the range of the Duero River basin, produces some of these Spanish wines with denomination of origin Ribera del Duero.
The wines of the IO Ribera del Duero are primarily red, and for a wine qualifies for the designation of origin under the Regulatory Council policy must include at least 75% of Tempranillo in its drafting. The signature wines of the winery Pagos de Matagrena are made from 100% Tempranillo grapes, that is why they have such an extraordinary quality.
Although the history of Spanish wines dating back to the time of the Phoenicians, it was not until 1975 when they started talking about the potential of the wines from the Ribera del Duero in Spain.
The Denomination of Origin Ribera del Duero, was established in 1982 and the Control Board was initially established in Aranda de Duero (Burgos – Spain), but currently in Roa de Duero. Since then, we have worked to raise awareness of these Spanish wines of such high quality in the Spanish territory and internationally.
